Reading Week
Friday, May 10th
Flashlight Friday
St. Rose School will turn out the lights for a bit and read by flashlight. Please send in a small flashlight to
school with your child. Students will be expected to keep the flashlights tucked away in their backpacks
until the Flashlight Friday event begins.
Monday, May 13th
Oh the Places You’ll Go Day--“The more you read the more places you’ll go...” Dr. Seuss
Students may wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt from their favorite high school or college.
Our 8th graders will read a story to lower-wing classrooms.
Tuesday, May 14th
Dress as Favorite Book Character Day (Students may dress as their favorite fictional character.
Students should bring the book to school on this day. No costume masks)
or
Students may dress as a vocabulary word or in clothes with words! Students are encouraged
to get creative while dressing appropriately for a Catholic School environment.
(Please wear the school uniform if not participating.)
Schoolwide DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time.
Wednesday, May 15th
SUNsational readers
Students will have some fun in the sun reading time. They may bring in sunglasses, a beach towel, and a
great book!
Thursday, May 16th
TEAM Up for Reading
Students may wear their favorite sports jersey and will buddy up with a partner in the classroom for partner
reading.
Friday, May 17th
Grandparents Day
